Job Duties
WEAA 88.9FM is located in Baltimore, Maryland, on the campus of the historic Morgan State University in the School of Global Journalism and Communication. Our mission is to empower, engage, and educate our diverse audience with news and music programming.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees production and on-air anchoring of radio newscasts and public affairs programs.
- Directs the assignment and coverage of news stories; covers, prepares and edits news stories for broadcast.
- Provides editorial decision making and guidance to ensure compliance and accuracy and makes sure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
- Supervises staff reporters, on-call reporters, student interns, station volunteers and grant-funded news staff assigned to special coverage.
EDUCATION:
- The successful candidate has a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University, in Journalism, Media Production, or a related field
- A minimum of five (5) years of media management experience.
- Consideration will also be given to candidates with eight (8) years of journalism experience, in lieu of a Degree.
- In addition, these candidates are expected to also have outstanding recommendations from media managers.
- All candidates are expected to have professional experience in news reporting and production.
